A friend of mine just gave me to small potted English ivy...I have no idea what to do to take care of them...does anyone have any good advice?

Just make sure the dirt stays moist - keep out of direct sunlight but at same time make sure it gets plenty of sunlight - the sun burns Ivy easily. It won't need a lot of water but the dirt does need to stay moist. With any plant - if you want it to grow like crazy - once a week or so dump used coffee grounds into the soil - if you drink coffee that is it, stuff works better than miracle grow.

So I am sitting here dying my hair for like the...let's see....6th time or so in like 6 weeks. And that is not counting the 4 color strips I had to do to take jet black out of my hair to get the Rihanna red that I love so much...some may ask "is it worth it?" and all I gotta say is FUCK YEAH! :D
